Ask Dr. Barbara
Which would get me the results that are right for me? A coach or counselor?
Counseling is incredibly valuable — it helps people process trauma, heal wounds, and navigate emotional pain.Coaching is different. It’s about Reinventing. Moving forward. Looking to the future self. Brainstorming. Creating.
My coaching practice is for people who are ready to step into the next version of themselves. I’m not here to diagnose or unpack your past — I’m here to help you get clarity about what you want now, build a mindset that supports it, and take action toward a future that feels aligned, intentional, and alive.
You don’t need to wait until things are "fixed." If you're ready to lead a more meaningful, powerful life — starting from exactly where you are — coaching is the place to begin.
What is the Value of a Coaching + Consulting Approach?
The hybrid model I use blends coaching and strategic consulting — giving you the best of both worlds.
Coaching offers deep inquiry, reflection, and clarity. It’s about discovering your inner wisdom and building alignment.
Consulting brings structure, insights, and practical tools to help you act on that clarity.
With both, you get a process that’s human, focused, and results-driven.
How Can Success Coaching Help You — Especially After a Major Life Shift?
When high achievers face chaos — whether it’s personal loss, burnout, a career shake-up, or an unexpected turning point — it can upend everything.
What used to drive you may no longer feel meaningful. The old version of success starts to feel empty. And yet, something in you still wants to grow — not just recover, but--reimagine.
That’s where coaching comes in.
I work with driven people who want to redefine success in a way that honors who they are now. It’s about creating a life that’s not just high-performing — but fulfilling, grounded, and purpose-led.
In our coaching together, we will:
* Slow down and get clear on who you are today — and what matters most.
* Redefine your vision of success so it reflects your current values, not just old goals.
* Build back momentum, even when things feel uncertain or unfamiliar.
* Create habits and structures that support your next chapter.
* Develop a vision that excites you — one that doesn’t just check boxes, but lights you up.
You don’t have to figure it all out on your own. Coaching helps you turn a life interruption into an positive signal for change — the start of something more real, more powerful, and more aligned.
What Happens in a Coaching Session?
Each coaching session is a space for honest reflection, focused support, and aligned action.
We’ll begin by grounding in where you are right now — mentally, emotionally, and professionally. Then we work from there, creating a vision that matches who you're becoming.
A typical session might include:
1. Clarity — Where are you right now? What has this shift awakened in you?
2. Values + Vision — What matters most now? What kind of life are you called to create?
3. Uncovering Blocks — What fears or patterns are keeping you stuck? Let’s name them and shift them.
4. Strategy for Reinvention — What steps make sense for you right now? What habits and structures support that?
5. Accountability and Momentum — You’ll leave with clear actions and mindset shifts to keep moving forward.
This isn’t about going backward. It’s about growing into a version of success that feels more true than ever.

How Long Will I Need Coaching?
Every journey is different, and the depth of transformation you want will guide how long we work together. This isn’t quick-fix coaching — it’s purposeful, identity-level work.
That said, here’s a general framework:
Month 1: Grounding and clarity — understanding what changed and what’s next.
Months 2–3: Strategy and rebuilding — new habits, new vision, new mindset.
Months 4–6: Expansion — refining and strengthening your reinvention with real-world support.
Some clients feel aligned after a few months. Others continue for longer, valuing the partnership as they grow, lead, and evolve.
You’re in control — always. We go at your pace, in service of your goals.
How Do I Coach?
My coaching style is client-centered — rooted in compassion, clarity, and results. I’m not the hero of your story — you are.
I bring presence, curiosity, and commitment to every session. In the sessions I listen and give you my full attention. I ask questions meant to mirror, reframe or at times soothe. My aim is to help you reconnect with who you are now and who you aim to be. With your permission, I also bring in mentoring when it’s helpful — offering tools, insights, or lived experience that support your journey.
This work is personal to me. I’ve walked this path myself — from high performance through chaos to reinvention. That experience doesn’t define how I coach, but it does inform how deeply I understand what you’re navigating.
Together, we’ll create a space that’s supportive, structured, and deeply transformative — so you can step into the version of success that reflects your future self.
